When I Encountered Butterflies

When I encountered butterflies, I realized that Nature and Life is always transforming and renewing itself. It is a sign, a revelation; a synchronicity telling me that I am undergoing a transformation. Something is being left behind, my old shell, and something is emerging. And there are always butterflies. So I can always hope for renewal. New life will come, whether in this life or the next. Butterflies remind me that life is beautiful; that what is delicate, flexible and graceful is most alive, and what is rigid is dead. Butterflies are strong and courageous and travel far. They have a lot to teach us.

Now, I know that butter doesn't fly; it is eaten, and usually fattening too. So certainly, butterflies don't eat butter. So why are they named after it?? If they were butter, butterflies would fly away before I could eat them. They would just flutter-by. And they aren't sticky or gooey. So it is part of the mystery, why they are called that. They aren't tasty to eat either. Maybe they are called that because they spread their wings, and bring us happiness. Or because they are light and flexible, like butter. So butter too, I guess, is a symbol of life.
