UU Band of Writers, July 1, 2018
I remember the group I started here at First UU San Jose called "Inner Space Explorers" or ISE. We had a good set of eyes together. So we came up with our own spelling of eyes, and our own ideas of inner space. So what do we see today with our ISE? Are we still willing to explore? Let us begin. The ayes have it!
I wonder what lies between the lines. There's more to life than we can say. I have run out of words....
but I keep speaking and writing. We all do it. We have nothing to say, so we just say I, and everything we say is about I. So let's make an about face, and start writing about "U". You are the apple of my eye, the apple pie that gets me high. You are the evolution of the ewe. And I say "ooooh!" I look into your eyes, and I see you through and through. I see tomatoes and potatoes. I see palm trees and fleas. I see bees just being be'es. I see stars and bars and far-away Mars. I see whatever I want to see. So in the end, I still see "I". Into me I see.
So who am I? Can I find apple pie in the sky by and by? I see God, and I sigh. Is that all there is? Oh my! my they sigh. I touch my hand on your thigh. I drink my whiskey and rye, singing this is not yet the day that I die! Hi, I!
